DMX and attorney ‘The Apprentice’ star Bradford Cohen
Attorney and acquaintance of mine Bradford Cohen defending rapper DMX in a Florida courtroom. Client DMX (Earl Simmons) ingratiates himself with the judge by mumbling an f-bomb toward the court. Good luck Brad!
Rap star DMX pleaded guilty to trying to buy cocaine and marijuana in Miami and was awaiting extradition to Arizona on outstanding drug charges there, his lawyer said on Thursday.
The rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, entered the plea on Wednesday in Miami-Dade Circuit Court and was sentenced to time served, said his lawyer Bradford Cohen.
He was jailed two or three days after his July arrest on a charge of trying to buy illegal drugs from an undercover police officer during a street corner sting, Cohen said.
Simmons was initially released on bond on the Florida charge, but was arrested two weeks ago on the outstanding warrant from Arizona during a traffic check outside a Wal-Mart store and then denied bond.
Rather than stay jailed until after a trial set for October, he pleaded guilty in the Florida case and agreed to be extradited to Arizona, where he expects to be released on bond, Cohen said.
“He got shafted on this one,” said Cohen, who said the evidence in the Florida drug sting was weak and flawed.
Simmons has a home in Arizona and missed a court hearing there on charges of possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He also faces animal cruelty charges stemming from the discovery of dog carcasses and malnourished dogs on his property near Phoenix.

“In no way shape or form” is what bothered me…
That’s the truth too. I have entered some real stinker photos in comparison to all levels of competition. In fact I’ll admit to have a great deal to learn about competing in the club. I do know a wow when I see one and I also know a stinker when I see one. I don’t feel I am yet qualified to judge others yet but with some more experience I will. I have seen two photos receive a score of five since I joined and they both happened on the same night.
It was from a judge who has achieved much success in photography and is certainly more than qualified to judge my photos. In fact I have learned a lot from the judge I am referring to. He took the liberty to give a fairly decent enough photo, and worthy of the 7’s I received from the other judges, a FIVE. Not because it was a bad picture. In his words was that “in no way shape or form” did it fit the category -IN THE GARDEN. Now I know that corn comes in many forms – fresh, frozen, creamed, and canned. So my frustration comes from the comment more than the score. It’s not like it was boat anchor or a fire truck. It was not a stretch in any way shape or form to think that corn and other vegetables being sold at a market fits the category. If for some reason it was also out of focus – over/under exposed - composure was all wrong I encourage to be all over me and give me what I deserve. From what I learned and I checked my notes from the recent judging seminar it should have been discussed in all fairness. I am open to more comments from the club members for me and against me!
Almost there — Stage ONE — Across the Pacific
All in vane? I hope not. Roz is about to complete the first of a three stage attempt to cross the Pacific Ocean in her custom made vessel and a couple of oars.
- Stage 1, 2008, San Francisco to Hawaii. 2,324 statute miles, course 247 degrees.
- Stage 2, 2009, Hawaii to Tuvalu. 2,620 statute miles, course 224 degrees.
- Stage 3, 2010, Tuvalu to Australia. 2,324 statute miles, course 252 degrees.
This is the craft in which Roz will complete her journey. Other than the fresh water pump breaking down it was about what you would expect it to be! Her goal is to raise awareness and save our oceans. I personally have taken an interest in Roz’s daily blog journaling her adventure.
I highly encourage everyone to at least check her web site out at http://www.rozsavage.com/
August Results – Nevada Camera Club
HEY ED WHERE DO YOU THINK CORN COMES FROM- A VEGETABLE FACTORY?
The club challenge for the month of August was ‘in the garden’. I entered a photo of fresh picked vegetables from the famous market in Seattle. One of the judges – ED STIGLITZ – gave my photo a 5. I have not seen a judge give any photo a five since I have belonged to the club After just taking a judging seminar from the NCC I am appalled. His explanation is that he did not see how it fit the category in any was shape or form. It’s a very nice picture not my best but I felt it certainly fit the category. F. U. – ED STIGLITZ! It may be sour grapes but I will remember receiving a five for a decent photo as long as Ed and I are both members of the club. Ed was just wrong and my blog is my way of voicing my anger.
As for the other two pictures they did not fair as well as I would have liked. But on a bright note I did receive a high score of nine on my Sail on Silverbird photo. That was given to me by a brilliant and experienced photographer Gary Potts. So I do have that memory and will try to build from that high praise and forget from the five in which I learned nothing.
- To see my entries go to my August 11th post.
- August 27th post should be read as well.

As Roz gets ever closer to her destination I am so excited to have followed her on this adventure yet sad that it will be ending in a few weeks. I have no way of relating to the physical let alone the mental challenge of this accomplishment. I am certain that as much as I love the water and my desire to preserve the oceans I could not attempt such a feat. LISTEN TO RECENT PODCAST: ROZ mp3

AUGUST N.C.C. competition entries ~
I’ll have to say it “where was his parents?”
I grew up old school. My parents would have grounded me for at least a year for trying any of this stuff. I still tried stuff on my Schwinn Sting-Ray but nothing like this guy!
Good bye to the boss – he truly left his mark.
For those who do not know this is our now former Casino Mgr. C.J. Graham in his Hell Cop make-up. C.J. was also the famous Jason in one of the Friday the 13th movies. We had a fun ride at the Palms under C.J. most of the time. He has put in his resignation. Although thats the same story we were told about other employees that left our department. So who knows -time will tell! We had a bit of fun during the presidential campaign so here is a Hell Cop photo I had fun with in Photoshop.
